Country Market is a privately owned 300 acre Farm, Farmers Market, Garden Centre and Plant Nursery. To promote healthy eating and to ensure protection for the environment only natural manures are use to grow the vegetables and plants produced on the farm and, unusually, a high proportion of the vegetables and plants sold in the Garden Centre are grown locally.

The origins of Country Market go back to 1965 when it was much smaller than it is today. Since that time it has progressively expanded and extended its activities to the point where it is now an important local enterprise providing a very wide range of items. For example the Farmers Market offers:

The farm is, today, still privately owned by the same family who, assisted by their two sons, employ about 60 staff. Country Market offers a shopping experience which is both refreshing and unique, and even enjoyable, in an age where shopping has generally become a chore. First time visitors are pleasantly surprised at the quality and friendliness of the service provided to customers, most return regularly.

There is a licensed restaurant to enhance the experience even more. Customers can take a break from shopping to enjoy Morning Coffee, a relaxed Lunch with a glass of wine, or Afternoon Tea.

In the event that customers want produce even fresher than that sold in the Farm Shop a seasonal "Pick-Your-Own" service is provided. Most customers are amazed at the wide range of vegetables and soft fruits available from the PYO section. Specialities in season include a number of varieties of strawberry, for which Country Market is well known and rightly so. When considering the PYO opportunities remember that all produce is grown using only nitrate free natural organic manures for healthy eating and fuller flavour.

The Gift Shop and Craft Centre offers a wide range of hobby, leisure and decorative items -too numerous to list in the space available.

The Plant Nursery provides an impressive selection of locally grown herbaceous plants and perennials. Starter plants, Primroses and Pansies are but a few of the well known specialities.
